Richard joined Crosse + Crosse in 1987. He is a Partner and Head of the Personal Injury, Accident and Clinical Negligence Departments.

Richard has dealt with a wide variety of claims arising from many different circumstances some of the more unusual have included claims arising from:

  • parachute jumps
  • sub squa diving
  • equestrian accidents
  • boating accidents
  • hot air ballooning
  • accidents abroad
  • patients absconding from an acute psychiatric unit
  • train disasters
  • being struck by a runaway supermarket trolley
  • an explosion in a fireworks' factory
  • plastic surgery.

Richard has encountered a huge variety of different injuries over 20 years of practising in this specialist area and they have included:

  • relatively uncomplicated fractures or soft tissue injuries
  • significant adverse psychological symptoms
  • severe head injuries
  • injuries which are catastrophic or life changing
  • fatal accidents.

Richard has been a member of The Law Society's specialist Personal Injury Panel since 1994.  He has also been on the Headway referral list for many years.

Unusually Richard acts for both Claimants and Defendants and has done so for many years.  This is relatively rare but gives him a better perspective in understanding how the other side is likely to be approaching your claim.

Richard also advises on professional negligence matters arising out of injury or clinical negligence claims. He was a member of The Law Society's Negligence Panel for many years.

Richard went to school in the North East.  he studied law at Bristol University and took his Solicitors Finals at the Chester College of Law.  In between he worked in a hotel in the Scottish Highlands; travelled to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Japan and, packed liquor  chocolates at a factory in Bristol.  His interests include travel, cricket, football and long distance walking.
