A Journey of Understanding

This firm acted for Peter Webster and his family. Peter lost his teenage daughter Emily who was killed whilst travelling on the London to Paddington train. The train derailed at the level crossing at Ufton Nervet, near Reading when it struck a vehicle which had been placed there by someone who wanted to commit suicide. The train derailed and seven passengers were killed including Emily;; many others were injured including Peter - who suffered very severe adverse psychological consequences. The event had a devastating effect on their family.

Following the accident Peter struggled to come to terms with what happened and for sometime has wanted to do something worthwhile which would benefit others in need. He has been planning a trip to Africa and he is due to depart within the next few days. He intends to travel through Europe to Turkey, Syria, Jordan, hopefully Saudi Arabia if he can get a transit visa, then across the Red Sea to Sudan. He hopes to try and help a little in Southern Sudan which is suffering badly from the effects of civil conflict as well as malaria but primarily sand fly disease. He will then enter Ethiopia where he hopes to visit a number of projects including orphanages before moving on to Kenya. This road is quite tough about 800 km with no petrol and an escort needed because of problems. He hopes to help a little here at some orphanages and will stock up with more supplies as he goes. All going well he will go into Tanzania to visit Kilimanjaro.  He may possibly then move to Uganda and Rwanda both of which suffer badly from Malaria as does the whole of East Africa.  His return route takes him back up the Nile through Sudan and Egypt.

We as a firm have been happy to support Peter with his quest and will be following his journey on his blog at http://ajourneyofunderstanding.wordpress.com/about-the-trip/ If anyone would like to donate to Peter's cause details can be found how to do this on his blog.  We wish Peter good luck on his journey.
