Team Wendy Update

Team Wendy Challenges Past and Present

It has been an exciting year so far for Team Wendy. Our staff, family and friends have taken part in numerous events over the past few months in an effort to raise desperately needed money for lots of worthy charities including our own charity, Force Cancer, which remains close to our hearts following the recent and devastating loss of our Partner, colleague and friend, Wendy Kemp.

Age UK 10K
Team Wendy took to the streets of Exeter for the first time in their new team t-shirts in support of Exeter Age UK, a local charity responsible for our own funding. Their goal is for a city in which all older people can love later life and our team of six were only too pleased to support their cause by successfully completing their 10k run.

Really Big Quiz
This fantastic quiz managed to raise in excess of £6,000 for the Exeter Foundation. With the lovely Lord Mayor in attendance it was a huge success and we were delighted to have been able to provide two teams on this occasion and play our part.

Exeter Legal Walk

The team once again took to the streets of Exeter in the annual Exeter Legal Walk organised by the South West Legal Support Trust raising money to fund their free legal advice centres which are an invaluable resource for the local community. The organisations they support help prevent families from being made homeless and also help women and children who have been trafficked for domestic servitude or prostitution.

Exeter Rainbow Run

We were delighted to take part in a very colourful and fun filled Rainbow Run at Exeter Racecourse in aid of Childrens’ Hospice. CHSW raise money to build precious memories for families whose children are living with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. With many of our team members having small children themselves, they were only too happy to support this amazing charity by swapping their Team Wendy T-shirts for a white alternative albeit they didn’t stay white for long!!

Haytor Heller
Only two team members were brave enough to take on this challenge. The Haytor Heller required Sarah Yates and Andrew Dodd to take on the challenging conditions of Dartmoor on one of our hottest days of the year so far. Both did incredibly well with Sarah narrowly missing out on a prize. We are very proud of them both.

It's a Knockout

No less than ten of our dedicated team arrived as Snow White and her 'alternative dwarfs' at the It's a Knockout event in support of our own charity FORCE.  After braving awful weather conditions it's fair to say the team didn't exactly rank highly but we are incredibly proud of them nonetheless and fun was had by all.
