Good News for Park Home Owners

The Mobile Homes Act 2013 - one year on.

More good news for home owners as on 1 April 2014 the powers of local authorities in dealing with park home sites will be increased.

So, under the new law, councils will have ;

(a)  some discretion over whether or not to agree to transfer a site licence (or grant a new one),
(b)  the power to serve a “compliance notice” (this is intended to get site owners to undertake work considered necessary at the site),

(c)  the right to carry out works on the site if the site owner does not, and to recover the expense.

Commenting on these changes Partner, Tim Selley, says :

“These new changes hopefully will add further help to home owners on the minority of sites that are not run properly by the site owners.”

However, he added, "The changes also allow the councils to charge higher licensing fees and there is a chance site owners will try and recover that extra expense from home owners.”
