Legal Aid is still available at Crosse + Crosse!

From 1st April 2013, thousands of people facing a family breakdown may find themselves without access to government funded legal advice due to changes to Legal Aid.

The Government has substantially cut the Legal Aid budget which means that funding for family disputes over children and finances is largely restricted to those who are victims of domestic abuse or where a child is considered to be at risk.

However, in a large number of cases, Legal Aid will remain available such as Public law proceedings where Social Services act to protect children, Protective Injunctions, Children under 18 actively participating in proceedings and the Unlawful removal of children from the UK.

The Government wants more families to take part in mediation to settle their disputes and a new funded service called Help with Family Mediation has been introduced to provide specialist legal advice in support of clients participating in Family Mediation.

If you are considering seeking family law advice, arrange an appointment now with one of our specialist family lawyers who will guide you through the process.
