Raising money for Refuge

Sabina Smith, Associate Solicitor in the family department of Crosse & Crosse, raises over £800 by taking part in the "Bupa 10,000" sponsored run around central London.

Sabina completed the 10 kilometre course to raise money for Refuge, the charity for victims of domestic violence.

Sabina said “Through my work with clients who have experienced domestic abuse I know what a vital service Refuge provides. Often parents and their children fleeing domestic violence have nowhere else to go. Refuge provides them with a safe harbour and, the follow up support and guidance to help them move on and rebuild their lives. In the family department at Crosse & Crosse we have worked closely with our local Refuge here in Devon and have seen at first hand what a real difference they can make. With the recent cuts in public spending Refuge has lost a lot of its direct funding from government and private donations are more important then ever. We can’t afford to lose this wonderful service and that’s why I decided to do this run.”

Sabina regularly works with clients experiencing domestic abuse and is a Resolution accredited specialist in this field. Protection is available to victims of domestic abuse via court orders or injunctions to remove the perpetrator from the home or to prohibit contact.
