This Licensing Act 2003 brings together all "licensable activities" which includes the sale of alcohol, entertainment, some sporting activities, late night refreshment, plays and films. If you want any of these activities to take place at your premises, it will need the benefit of a Premises Licence.
An application will need to be made to the local authority in your local area. This application process involves completing the prescribed application form upon which you will indicate those activities you require permission to take place, the times you require those activities to take place and the steps you will take to promote the four main licensing objectives within the operating schedule.
The prevention of crime and disorder, public safety, prevention of public nuisance and protection of children from harm
This is the most crucial part of the application, you will need to set out within the operating schedule those steps you will take to promote the licensing objectives. This will be in the form of conditions that when granted will become conditions upon which your licence will operate. Failure to comply with those conditions could result in prosecution, review and revocation of your licence.
