Frequently asked questions

How much will it cost?

The cost will depend on the size and type of the debt and the costs will include a court fee in addition to our fees. For bulk referrals we are able to offer competitive fee structures to suit the needs of the inidividual client.

How long will it take?

It is difficult to advise on how long your claim may take as this will vary depending on the type of case. Relatively simple cases that are not Defended may take over 3 months to conclude. We will advise you on costs and timescale on each individual matter.

Can I recover my costs?

Generally, in Small Claims matters (less then £5,000.00) you are not entitled to recover anything other than fixed Solicitors costs (between £50-£100) and your Court fee and only if you are successful.

What if I lose?

If you lose your case you will be required to pay our costs and in some circumstances, if the Court finds that you have acted unreasonably, you may be ordered to pay your opponent's costs also.

Can I claim interest?

You can claim interest on most claims but this depends also on some of the factual circumstances of each individual case and Court Rules. We will advise you on each individual matter accordingly.

Can I claim damages?

Usually in small claims matters for Debt Collection you are not able to claim damages. However if your case does involve any element of loss it is possible to make a claim for damages in addition to the debt depending on the circumstances.
